Healing Golum the Cat

We have a cat named Golum.

He looks a lot like a classic Golum and after seeing Lord of the Rings it confirmed it to us. I suppose this is the case with most cats, but if you push his ears back, the resemblance is obvious. He’s a precious! He’s a pure-bred Bombay, all black and highly sensitive to his human friends.

The odd thing about him is that he has a particular addiction to getting his butt spanked. He could sit on your lap and happily be spanked for hours. Apparently, its common to the breed. Go figure.

A few days ago he walked in the door with some blood on his paw. He had a cut. We wanted to see if it might begin to heal on its own, but it was obvious after a couple of days, that even with all his licking it was not getting better. I’ve never used essential oils on him before, but wanted to give it a try before spending money on the vet.

Basically, animals respond to essential oils the same way we do, whether its for emotional or physical rebalancing.Obviously the limbic systems of an animal’s brain responds to the oils in the same way as their human friends. For small animals you should dilute the oil with some carrier oil and use a smaller amount than you would on yourself.

The book I was reading suggested using Melrose oil because of its antiseptic properties. It also helps prevent fungus and infection. The wound started to look a lot better after applying the Melrose a few times the first day and by the end of the second day it was closing up very nicely.

One less trip to the vet. I’m happy. Golum is happy. And for that reason, the world is a better place.
